When I stayed at Northstar I was very impressed by the total operation. From the check- in which was friendly, helpful and seamless, to the room, which was brilliantly designed and ideal for business travellers because of the desk- perfect for lap top computers.
The crowning glory was the dinner in Northstar Restaurant and Bar. The service was genuine and when the dinner arrived I was blown away by the presentation and the taste and freshness of it all. The dessert, which I don’t usually have, was out of this world and a taste sensation. Good old Oamaru! You can stand along anything in Auckland’s Viaduct Basin. I travel around New Zealand a lot and eat out often and I cannot recommend Northstar enough.

I have stayed at a large number of hotels and motels over the last 31 years. I would like to comment on the Northstar complex in Oamaru, where I have stayed many times since its opening. I have found the rooms to be very warm, spacious, and very inviting. This goes hand in hand with the services from the motel and restaurant staff, where I have always been made to feel welcome. The Restaurant and Bar has had an amazing refurbishment, that has put this complex well into the best hotels and motels I have stayed at around New Zealand.

Both myself and other members of my team stayed at the Northstar when working at our local branch in Oamaru. All feedback from the team has been extremely good! On each of my many visits I always leave feeling well rested and refreshed.
The motel rooms are very up to date, warm, amazingly clean and most importantly, very comfortable. The restaurant and bar area has been extremely well refurbished and has a menu to match. Our meals there have always been lovely. We especially look forward to coming back and having the steak again!
Special mention needs to be made of the fantastic staff and service both in the motel and the restaurant/bar.
Once again, thanks so much for your hospitality, our staff would not stay anywhere else when working in Oamaru!

This is not a booking but I wanted to email to say a big thanks for Sunday night. A group of 15 came for dinner, but earlier we had approx 30 people in your lounge and the service we all received was "outstanding" and you obviously PRIDE yourself on that and we were thrilled. Our meals and drinks were lovely and Maria (Laming?) was our waitress that night and she was amazing. Please pass on to her our thanks as she made our evening very enjoyable. Great service like we experienced at your Restaurant and Bar makes all the difference , and we will be recommending you to friends and family, and anyone else who asks.
